About Title/LAP Reading at SES
At Stanwood Elementary we assess all students in reading three times a year using multiple measures. Based on the results of these assessments and the classroom teacher's input, students scoring below grade level are considered for additional reading support through our Title I/LAP program funds.
A certificated teacher and other trained support staff work with students 1:1, in small groups, or as additional support in the classroom. We focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Skills are taught at the student's instructional level. The goal of the program is to close the achievement gap in reading. All students are monitored for progress every other week.
