Q: How many students are in the Chorus?
A: Over 600 voices! 300 girls in Soprano and Alto; 300 boys in Tenor and Bass.
Q: I have no experience singing. Can I be in the Chorus?
A: Yes! As Brother Joshua says, if you sing in the shower or sing in the car, you can be in the Chorus! Many of our students do not read music and are outstanding singers who even earn vocal scholarships for college!
Q: How often does the Chorus practice?
A: The Chorus is an academic class within the school schedule. Girls Chorus is in D Period and Boys Chorus is in E Period. Altos and Tenors have class Day 1, 3, 5 and 7. Sopranos and Basses have class 2, 4, 6 and 7. Every day 7, all girls have rehearsal together in D Period and all boys have rehearsal together in E Period.
Q: Can I be on a sport and be in the Chorus?
A: Yes! This is the very reason why Chorus is during the school day. We never conflict with sports! And students are always excused from night practices if they have a Saint Anthony's High School game or competition. We even have choral ensembles in select sports including Football Chorus, Basketball Chorus and Track Chorus-all of whom sing the National Anthem before games!
Q: When does the Chorus rehearse together?
A: The Chorus has three night practices in the Fall before the Christmas Concert and three night practices in the Spring before the Spring Concert. These are the only six times a year when the entire ensemble rehearses together.
Q: Who can travel to Italy with the Chorus?
A: Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are able to travel in February of the "odd" years - 2027, 2029, 2031, etc.
