I am so excited to have your child join us for a fun, engaging, and enriching year in Pre-K 4 at St. Anthony's! Our classroom is a place where young learners grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually through developmentally appropriate practices and hands-on experiences.
Literacy & Handwriting:
We use Handwriting Without Tears, a multi-sensory curriculum designed to support all types of learners—kinesthetic, auditory, and visual. This program focuses on proper letter formation while also helping to strengthen fine motor skills and build spatial awareness, which are essential at this developmental stage.
Math:
This year, we are excited to introduce a new math program called Math Shelf – Early Math Mastery. This award-winning tablet-based curriculum provides individualized instruction tailored to each child’s academic level. Through engaging and interactive activities, students build a strong foundation in early math concepts at their own pace.
Religion:
For our religion program, we use Stories of God’s Love, a beautiful and age-appropriate curriculum that brings scripture to life. Through Bible stories and real-life applications, children begin to understand God’s love and how they can live it out each day. It’s a program I have loved teaching over the years, and the children always respond with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Science & Social Studies:
Our science and social studies curriculum are supported by Scholastic’s My Big World magazine series. This program connects children with the real world through colorful visuals, age-appropriate articles, exciting videos, and hands-on activities that build background knowledge and promote curiosity about the world around them.
Field Trips & Enriching Experiences:
We also enjoy exciting off-campus adventures throughout the year. Some highlights include field trips to Winterthur Museum, Delaware Museum of Nature & Science, Playhouse, where students experience hands-on learning and the arts in new and meaningful ways. These trips are a wonderful extension of our classroom curriculum and a favorite among students.
Special Events & School Fun:
In addition to our daily learning, we love celebrating special moments together as a school community! Some of our favorite events include the Blessing of the Animals, Scholastic Book Fairs, monthly all-school mass, Grandparents Day, our Halloween Trick-or-Treating Event, and our festive Christmas Show. These experiences bring so much joy to our students and help create lasting memories.
I look forward to a wonderful school year filled with discovery, growth, and joyful learning!
