The best place to find answers to most of your questions about becoming an employee, payroll, onboarding, benefits, etc. is the GME Office website.
Refer to the GME's payroll schedule for your normal pay days. Your first paycheck will be for the pay period that includes your start date of June 25 NOT your orientation dates. Be sure to plan accordingly because you may not receive a full paycheck until the middle of July.
Your orientation hours will be paid by your August paycheck.
Visit the GME Office's web page on resident stipends & bonuses. Note that neither we nor the GME Office can advise you on how to fill out the W-4 tax form or predict how much you’ll be receiving per paycheck.
No, the GME Office cannot reimburse you for Step 3 paid before you begin residency.
The GME Office will send you an application packet asking for lots of information you might not know about your training program. You can find that information here. If there is something that isn't listed, please email Carrie J. (cajohnson1@stanfordchildrens.org).
See the link for instructions on how to apply for your NPI #.

Yes! It won't be submitted until you officially start, but feel free to start it and send it to Mitra Haddad (mhaddad@stanfordhealthcare.org), who will process it once you start.
In your hunt for housing, you may need employment verification stating that you will be employed by Stanford Health Care starting on June 25 – your GME contract is your best bet. If you’re still waiting for it to arrive, please email Katherine Jackman (katjack@stanford.edu), so that she can prepare a verification letter. When you sign your GME contract, be sure to download or take a screenshot of it for your records. You may not have access to it until you start residency.
If your spouse is eligible as a grad student for on-campus housing, you may live with them. There are no children allowed in this housing.
Visit the Stanford Transportation website for everything you need to know about ordering parking permits online, viewing a campus map showing garage locations and parking lots, etc.
Yes! If they are from the last 3 months. It is also wise to bring your next previous results as well.
The short answer is no. You must pass a drug test to finalize your hiring, and may not be permitted to start residency with a positive test.
The link to the Form MED in your licensing list does not work, please use the button to your right.
You may leave this blank, the last thing you will do on that page is sign and date, nothing below it.

If you're dropping off their application to the GME, you can include a check. If you're applying online or sending your check into the Med License directly, you should send the application and check together to MBC. You can make a copy of the check and submit that with receipt and reimbursement form to The GME. (You can use Google scan to make a copy, or stop by our office if you are in the Bay!). Reimbursement can begin once you start residency!
You can either apply via BreEZe or mail in your application to MBC, whichever you prefer and easiest for you.
You can send it to: Licensing Program, 2005 Evergreen Street, Suite 1200 Sacramento, CA 95815-5401.
We HIGHLY recommend you mail it using a trackable method, like Fed Ex, as documents can easily get lost. Also keep copies of anything you send out.
Select yes, your graduation date will be submitted as well, so they should be aware that you are still in training and your license application will not be complete until you have graduated anyway. If you select no, you will not be able to continue your application.
Nope! We will fill that out on your behalf, but not until you have started residency.
This information will become publicly searchable, so please use the Residency Office:
725 Welch Rd MC: 5906

Phone: (650) 497-8979
You do not have to submit a TOA unless you have any externship, observership, or volunteer activity in California, per the form description.
You can still be reimbursed for licenses you pay for before you start, however, the payment will not be processed until after you are employed.
Unfortunately not, the GME reimburses for the initial licensing fee only. The GME recommends you use your educational stipend for those expenses.
