My research focuses on (a) the behavior and control of human pathogenic viruses in environmental matrices, including water, air, and fomites; (b) the mechanisms of virus inactivation by environmental stressors and disinfectants; (c) virus-host interactions following virus exposure to environmental stressors and disinfectants; and (d) the risk assessment of environmental viruses for public health. The research outcomes will help us stay ahead of emerging threats, particularly in the context of potential pandemics.
