Everyone needs to attend the group meetings. Lab meetings are not optional, and this is one of the few required meetings when you are part of ILIAD. We also follow a no-screen policy during the group meetings. So please don’t bring or use your laptops and phones during in-person group meetings. Group meetings happen weekly on Fridays. The exact time and location depend on the quarter. Every active member of the group should sign up to give a talk every quarter. The talk could be presenting a recent work or ongoing work to get feedback, practicing talks for conferences, or presenting a relevant paper. The person who is presenting at each group meeting should spend 5-10 min talking about the top 5 most relevant papers on arXiv that week or other relevant papers based on recent conference proceedings. More detail can be found on this page.
In addition to group meetings, we also hold biweekly reading groups during the academic year. The reading groups are also not optional and required for all members of the group (graduate students, rotation students, undergraduate students, visiting students, etc.)
Everyone should attend the group meetings, biweekly reading groups, and biweekly robotics lunches. Please follow the no-screens policy in robotics lunches as well. Please do listen and give feedback. Practice coming up with questions and being critical when listening to these talks.
Everyone should try to attend relevant talks at robotics seminar as well as other related seminars.
If a member of our group is hosting an outside speaker, everyone needs to try to attend the talk and make an effort to meet with the speaker. In general meeting with the visitors is extremely useful for many reasons and you can get feedback on your work.
