The electrical system of Calcifer's Cook-Off! consists of a PIC32MX170F256B microcontroller, a LED matrix display, a button, a servo motor, multiple IR sensors, a potentiometer, a 74ACT244 buffer, and a buzzer. The electronics were connected using jumper wires and breadboards (both solderless and solderable).

Electrical Modules
A 10K resistor was used for setting the "heat" of the stoves, resulting in a difficulty increase. The potentiometer adjusts resistance depending on the angle of turn.
Our IR sensor boards were calibrated via on board potentiometer to detect obscuration above the emitter and receiver LEDs.
We utilized a NO (normally open) switch mechanism via a non-latching button to trigger the start state of the game.
A single LED matrix was set up to show 3 distinct progress bars as well as a countdown timer.
A buzzer was integrated to provide electromechanical feedback in the form of acoustics, beeping when a stove was overheating.
Two LEDs, red and green, were prepared with 2N7000 MOSFETs to allow switching of states between "ready to cook" and overheating.
