Section 4:

Making the Final Decision

Section 4: Making the Final Decesion

At this point the groups have been working in their respective grade level areas and mapped the Standards and Framework for History / Studies to the Criteria for the State Seal for Civic Engagement. They have developed some activities and possible ways that students, through a mixture of classroom work, independent practice and community involvement would qualify for the SSCE. Now is the time to make a final decision and come to a consensus to begin the process of roll out to the district.

Adoption Process Chart

Adoption Process Chart

This chart can be used at anytime in the process. It is to give people an overview of the process and the work that is to be done, or has been done up to this point and where it has to go from here. Facilitators think about giving this to the committee during their first meeting.

Rollout Timeline Activity

Rollout Timeline Activity

This is activity is for the entire committee, or grade level group, depending on how you are running your adoption, to plan for the events that will lead up to the rollout. This should also include the training for teachers and staff about the new adoption.

Final Draft Pathways Document

Make sure that the entire committee has a copy of the final draft pathway and have had a chance to discuss it and make changes before it is adopted.

Final Draft of SSCE Pathway

Along with what ever documentation your school or district requires make sure that the committee creates the final draft of the pathway document to use as a guide moving forward.

Once you have went through this section and completed the activities and filled out the Final Draft to the SSCE Pathways document, taken the time to discuss and make changes as needed, then filled out the Rollout Timeline activity, You are done. Congratulations.
