Saxophones

Welcome saxophone players! Whether you are just starting out or looking for a challenge, this page has you covered. It will have info for all types of saxophones (alto, tenor, or baritone).

If you are brand new to playing the saxophone (or need a refresher on the basics such as correctly putting on a reed) visit the Lessons for Beginners page.

If you are struggling with a more intermediate or advanced technique, I’ve posted some helpful videos and other resources on the Technique Tips and Tricks page.

If you have a handle on the music assigned in class and are looking for more material to play at home, such as pop or rock songs, visit the For Fun page to get some extra sheet music.

RESOURCES FOR BEGINNERS

So you’ve decided to play the saxophone. Fantastic! Lets get you started off right so you have success as soon as possible and don’t learn any bad habits. Here are some great videos to help you. These first few were made by Mr. Selfridge through GoBando.com. It’s a great website that provides free lessons on a variety of instruments. I have also included one video from MusicProfessor.com. It’s another website that offers online lessons for students of most instruments.

RESOURCES FOR FUN!

I know all the stuff you assigned for homework! This stuff is too easy! I want to learn how to play Taylor Swift! If you’ve ever said any of these sentences, this is the place you need to be. This page will be updated throughout the year to give you new music and sites to give you more to do during that hour of practice time.

8notes.com has a wide variety of different music. From Classical to Kanye – this site has it all. Choose your difficulty level, or play along with some Jam Tracks to spice up your practice time.
