6th & 7th Grade Band

6th grade band is a class that meets once a rotation for one hour. Participation in elementary school band is helpful, but not mandatory. All students play a wind or percussion instrument. Percussion students must have played percussion (drums) in elementary school. Students are expected to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 6th Grade Concert, and Memorial Day Parade. Students will have extra rehearsals leading up to these performances. Sixty minutes a week of home practice is expected.

7th grade band is a class that meets once a rotation for one hour. Most students have at least completed one year of band. Students will focus on more advanced skills and music than the sixth grade band. Students are expected to perform in all three parades (Veteran’s, St. Pat’s, and Memorial) as well as the Winter and Spring concerts. Students will have extra rehearsals leading up to these performances. Sixty minutes a week of home practice is expected.
