Because others will be aware that you have a device, you should protect it with a passcode that is personal and not easy to guess (see last month’s newsletter for info on setting a secure password). You should also enable “Find my device” in the event that your device is lost or stolen. It should go without saying that you should never leave your device unattended. To prevent damage, you should invest in a good quality case and screen protector.
Your old account has not gone away. You can still access your files and move them to your new account. You will not have access to this account forever; however, you will have time to make the transition between the two. See Legit Tech Tips for instructions on how to transfer your files.
This is your professional school account. You should use it for school-related tasks and communication. You should not use it for personal tasks, social networking, or to set up accounts for other purposes. Anything you do in this account can be traced or tracked, so keep that in mind as you work and communicate.
