Student Competitions

If your child is interested in entering a competition described below, please encourage him or her to meet with me as early as possible.

3M Young Scientist Challenge: 3M and Discovery Education invite students in grades 5-8 to submit a 1-2 minute video describing a new invention or a solution to solve or impact an everyday problem. The challenge opens March 7, 2020, and submissions are due May 7, 2020.

Torrance Creativity Awards: Students (ages 8 - 18) are invited to submit their finest creative work in writing, visual arts, music, and inventions to help celebrate the great legacy of educator and creativity pioneer Dr. E. Paul Torrance. Submissions are accepted January through August.

Virginia Association for the Gifted Student Summer Scholarships: The Virginia Association for the Gifted Student Summer Scholarships are designed for those gifted students who wish to attend academic or artistic programs during the summer months. The scholarships are in amounts ranging from $100 to $400 and are available for students, K-12. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 13, 2018. All applicants will be notified of their award status by May 15.
