GPA is calculated by dividing the total grade points each semester by the number of credit points. The GPA calculation includes 0.5 additional quality points for honors courses in the core academic areas and 1.0 additional quality points for AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate) or ACP (Advance College Project)/ Dual College Credit.
The school year is divided into two semesters; each semester has 2 nine week grading periods. Class rank is determined by cumulative GPA calculated each semester.
Additional weight is add to specific courses based on rigor of the class. These weight are determined by the district's Curriculum Advisor Board. Weight that can be added to the GPA point will be either of 0.5 or 1.0.
Students must receive a passing grade in the weighted course in order to receive the weighted impact. Weighted courses are open to all students.
