In this unit students will:
Analyze and compare how structures differ from text to text based on the author's purpose.
Recognize and analyze print and graphic features and their purpose in a text and utilize them to make and confirm predictions to support understanding.
Recognize and evaluate specific details of the text to determine key ideas that support the author's message/central idea.
Evaluate the details in an informational text in order to retell, paraphrase or summarize while maintaining meaning and logical order.

In science this week, we are continuing our Energy for Organisms Unit. Students are investigating consumers and how producers mostly need sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make their own food (photosynthesis). We are also describing and illustrating the flow of energy within a food web. Students worked on a cumulative science notebook assignment today. We will be finishing up our food chains simulation and food webs later this week.
Social Studies with Ms. tertzakian
This week in social studies, students will be learning about the National Government and the Texas Government. They will compare and contrast the similarities and differences of these two governments.

This week in writing, students will finish their biography essays about brave people. They are also finishing the end-of-year essay. They have taken the final spelling test of the year and turned in the last packet!
