How do I sign up for TECC courses for next school year?
Sign up for TECC courses in Skyward during the Course Selection window- January 22 - 30. Course numbers are located on the course cards linked above. There is a required form to fill out in Skyward under the "online forms" tab for students that are just starting at the TECC centers and for students requesting to swich programs. This form will open in February after course selection is completed, and an email will be sent out.
Do all students get into courses if they sign up?
Hebron has a limited number of spots per program as the TECC centers are shared between all 5 LISD high schools. Make sure to fill out the TECC Interest form located in Skyward- "online forms" tab in February. The more popular programs have waiting lists that counselors track to add students as they drop the course. Students will find out in April or May if they will have a TECC course in their schedule.
Is there an application to sign up for courses? What criteria are they looking for?
Yes, there is a TECC center interest form that will need to be filled out to be considered for a TECC course next school year. The form is found in Skyward in the "online forms" tab. The form will only be available after January 30th and will close mid- February.
How does TECC courses schedule during the school year?
TECC courses are scheduled for two periods in the Fall and/ or Spring. It may be in the morning or in the afternoon. Depending on the program and staffing, there may be limitations on when the course will be offered.
Is there a bus to the TECC centers? Am I able to drive?
Yes, there is a bus that will take you to the TECC centers and back to Hebron on time without missing any of your other classes.
Yes, students can choose to drive (with state license) to go to the TECC centers and/ or back to campus. TECC campuses will require a parking permit.
If a program is offered at both East and West locations, can I pick which site to take the course?
No, this is assigned by the TECC centers. Students cannot request East or West locations.
Are there fees associated with these programs?
It depends on the program. Students may have to pay for the license and certification and testing fees.
Is it too late to start Cosmetology?
Students must start the cosmetology program the fall of their sophomore years. Students are NOT able to start this program their junior or senior year.
