Hawk Time

• Hawk Time is a specific time period called during 2nd period in which all 9th Graders report to the HHS9 Campus for important information about various topics pertaining to the LISD PAWS (Prevention and Wellness Systemic) program.

• The PAWS program is the LISD implementation of HB1942, HB1386, SB407, and FNCF Legal.

• Topics covered through our PAWS program include:

  • Sexting and Appropriate Use of Technology

  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness

  • Suicide Prevention & Intervention

  • Dating and Relationship Violence Prevention

  • Anti-Bullying

• LISD Suicide Prevention Curriculum and other PAWS programming is available in the HHS9 library for any parents wishing to preview it.

STAAR/EOC

The State of Texas Assessement of Academic Readiness (STAAR) requires students in high school to take End of Course (EOC) exams for certain core subjects to show mastery of the objectives for that course. Currently there are five tests which student must pass:

1. Algebra 1

2. English 1 (Reading/Writing)

3. Biology

4. English 2 (Reading/Writing)

5. US History
