LISD Mission Statement:
Through partnerships with students, staff, and community, counselors will foster development of self-advocacy skills, personal-social-emotional wellness, and academic-career success in a compassionate and supportive environment.
To establish the Developmental Guidance Plan for our campus, we rely upon the American School Counseling Association National Model. This model includes the following elements:
Foundation includes our beliefs and mission statements and legislation that defines our program as we address the academic, career and social-emotional needs of all children.
Delivery System addresses how the program will be implemented and includes these four components:
Guidance Curriculum - to help students develop their full educational potential.
Individual Planning - component to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student's continued educational, career, personal or social development at risk
Responsive Services - system to guide a student as the student plans, monitors and manages the student's own educational, career (including interests and career objectives), personal and social development
Systems Support - to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal and social development of students
Management System addresses the when (calendar, campus plans and agreements), why (use of data) and on what authority (district, campus and state guidelines).
Accountability answers the question, “How are students different as a result of this program?” Each campus develops reports to assist in this as well as an evaluation of the program.
