About Mrs. Emmett

Mrs. Emmett- GT Facilitator

I am so excited to be a part of Gifted and Talented program at Donald.  I have been at Donald for 30 years!  I have taught grades K-3 and GT for 34 years.  I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in History and Elementary Education. I am certified to teach grade levels pre-k to 8th grade. I was teacher of the year at Donald in 1999 and 2016. I was awarded the HEB Excellence in Education award in 2018.   I served on the Superintendent Council.  I am on the Donald Design team, STEM Academy team, PTA Representative, and Student Council sponsor. I am also the sponsor for KKIDS News, our local news broadcast team. I started Designing Dolphins eight years ago which is a STEM Lab that encourages collaboration, problem solving and creativity.  I am STEM certified and ESL certified. I currently serve on the LISD Vision Task Force. I write curriculum for GT and STEM.  I look forward to working with all students over the course of the year.

Family

My husband, John and I have two grown children.  My daughter, Emily,  graduated from Oklahoma City University with a BM in music theatre.   She teachers theatre at Shadow Ridge Middle School and the Lewisville Arts Conservatory.  My son, Jake, graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in business/ sales and marketing.  He works for TekSystems. I love reading, theatre, traveling, walking our dog Sasha and sports- Go Cowboys!
