The Symphonic Band is our most advanced ensemble designed to prepare students for the Marcus High School Band Program by emphasizing individual development in areas such as tone, technique, articulation and music literacy.

Symphonic Band students perform a Winter Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. They also travel to UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in addition to several other local music competitions. Students in Wind Symphony also perform at a Solo Contest, Ensemble Contest, Pep Rallies and an Elementary Tour Concert.

The Symphonic Band consists of 7th and 8th graders. Placement in the Symphonic Band is determined by an audition. Instrumentation is limited to those who show advanced performance abilities, commitment and superior attitudes.

The Concert Band is an ensemble designed to prepare students for the Marcus High School Band Program by continuing development in areas such as tone, technique, articulation and music literacy. The Concert Band also focuses on developing skills such as ensemble blend, balance, tuning and awareness.

Concert Band students perform a Winter Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. They also travel to UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in addition to several other local music competitions. Students in the Concert Band also perform at a Solo Contest, Ensemble Contest and Pep Rallies.

The Beginning Band is the first step in your journey as a member of the Briarhill Middle School Band. Students in the Beginning Band will enjoy instrument specific classes where they can learn to play their chosen instrument in a small-group setting of like-instruments. Students will learn how to properly assembly, hold, and play their instrument in a fun and progressive course designed to teach all of the skills necessary to perform concerts and be successful on your instrument!

The Beginning Band will perform several concerts throughout the first year. We will combine to perform a Winter Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May, as well as travel to a band festival in the Spring.

The Beginning Band is primarily made up of 6th grade students, but special consideration can be made on a case-by-case basis for older students interested in joining band.
