Designing Business Cards and Logos

Students in Multimedia Composition collaborated in groups to create business cards and logos for their own companies. After studying design elements, they used Chromebooks to create meaningful designs. They presented their work to the class using Google Slides, explaining the creative choices they chose in the process.

From the Industrial Revolution to Shark Tank

After studying the entrepreneurs during the Industrial Revolution and Rise of Big Business in 8th Grade History, students worked in groups to create business plans for original or current products. They then presented their work to their classmates a la "Shark Tank" style.

STEM +TikTok

As Ms. Kashi taught her students about physics, her students taught her how to use TikTok. Shaking up a classic science experiment by using social media that students actively use keeps students interested in learning. It's also an unconventional way of collecting data; Ms. Kashi can use screenshots or clips of experiments in action to elaborate on why the balls were able to complete certain courses but not others. Who said collecting data had to be boring?

Digital Escape Rooms

After reading Lois Lowry's The Giver in Language Arts, Mrs. Madalena's students completed a Digital Escape Room using Chromebooks. They each assumed the role of Jonas, the novel's protagonist, as they helped Jonas escape the Community with timed challenges that required critical thinking and creative solutions.
