Physical Education Class Offerings - SPRING 2024


School-Day Options

Our usual school-day offerings, include Personal Fitness that will meet multiple periods throughout the regular school day.    PLEASE CONTACT MR. THIELE ASAP to see if it is still possible to add this to your current schedule.

Personal Fitness:

The goal of the personal fitness class is to help students learn how to develop a well-rounded exercise routine by integrating resistance training, cardiovascular workouts, mobility work, and balance training through a wide variety of exercises and activities. This class is appropriate for students with little or no fitness or strength training experience.  (Meets periods 3,4, and 7.) This is also open to any athletes participating in an interscholastic sport.

After-School PE Activity Classes


REGISTRATION WILL OPEN FOR SENIORS ON TUESDAY 1/23 AT 12:30 PM

REGISTRATION FOR GR. 9-11 WILL OPEN ON THURSDAY 1/25 AT 12:30 PM

First come, first served.  Some classes will fill up.

We will continue to provide our usual offerings of non-competitive P.E. options including fencing, yoga, capoeira, and self defense. All courses are appropriate for any skill level, so be open to try something new.

CapoeiraCapoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art, and can be quite fun.  Capoeira possesses a very unique style that brings together beauty and power, development of mental balance, physical conditioning, self defense, music and a profound sense of art.  Class will meet M/W/Th 4:00-4:55pm in the PE/Athletics Multi-Purpose Room

Fencing with Coach Ania Tibbetts. In this unique and challenging lifelong sport you will learn the fundamentals of Olympic fencing technique, footwork and strategy. This low-pressure fun filled environment helps students develop hand-eye coordination, increase overall fitness, improve mental focus, and builds confidence.   Appropriate for all skill levels, no experience required.  Class will meet Monday 3:45-5:15pm and Wednesday 3:30-5:00pm in the Visiting Team Room


Yoga:  These classes will consist of various styles of yoga with a goal of developing flexibility, strength, balance and endurance. Other benefits include stress reduction, improved energy, back and neck pain relief and relief of mental strain from studying.   In addition to the 2 instructor led classes, students have an additional hour of self-practice to complete and record each week.


SECTION 1:  meets in Main Hall Tues/Thurs 4:00-4:55pm

SECTION 2:  meets in Main Hall Wed/Fri 4:00-4:55pm 

SECTION 3 : meets in Main Hall Tues/Thurs 5:05-6:00pm

SECTION 4:  meets in Main Hall Wed/Fri 5:05-6:00pm

Self Defense: The Self Defense class is based on the Inayan System of Eskrima which was founded in Los Gatos, California and internationally recognized. The system has been taught to various police and military organization worldwide. The class will focus on situational awareness, personal safety and personal growth. All skill levels are welcome. No martial arts background is needed to attend the class. Students will learn in a safe and constructive environment. The class will focus on empty hand techniques and the use of tools. Class will meet Tuesday 3:45-5:15pm in Visiting Team Room/Aux Gym and Friday 3:45-5:15pm in the PE/Athletics Multi-Purpose Room
