Physical education is an important aspect of a total education. A healthy human being should develop mind, body and spirit. Some form of daily physical activity should become part of each person’s life in order to promote health and develop fitness. We offer opportunities for decision-making and confidence-building while learning fair play and teamwork. We hope to have students develop an appreciation for their own talents and the talents of others.
For all Harker Upper School students, 2.0 units of physical education credit must be earned to meet the requirement for upper school graduation. Students may fulfill the PE requirement through election of programs in competitive team sports, noncompetitive athletic endeavors, eligible performing arts programs, or traditional physical education classes. Students may elect to participate in any combination of the above programs. A semester long class, complete season of sports, or 15 week period of athletic activity are each worth 0.5 units. PE classes are not graded and are therefore not included on student transcripts. Outside of Harker activities must be pre-approved before being tracked for PE credit.
As the school year begins, please take a moment to evaluate your personal plan to complete your graduation requirement or 2.0 units of PE credit. Class schedule for the FALL semester has been published, use navigation bar above for registration information.
