Weekly Overview (8/25-8/29)
This week we will be covering the start of the war in Europe, with the German invasion of Poland, Norway, and France. Students will have a short quiz on Unit 1 covering the Treaty of Versailles and the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany. They also need to turn in the Research on the Origins of the Holocaust (due Monday by 11:59 PM), and complete the short reading on "Einsatzgruppen" due next Wednesday (9/3).

Course Topics and Themes:
This course is an overview of the causes, major details, and results of World War II. Students will examine the military and political history of the war, the individuals at the center of the conflict, as well as the experience of civilians and soldiers who participated. There will also be a heavy focus on American involvement in the war at home and abroad. Through completion of the course, you will gain an understanding of the importance of the war in shaping the world, and an appreciation for what it was like to live through the conflict.
