The following is a step-by-step process to be followed when terminating an employee at Stacked. Please complete each step in order to ensure the process is handled consistently, professionally, and in compliance with company standards.
Step 1 - Remove the employee from Homebase
Before initiating any communication, log in to Homebase and deactivate or remove the employee's profile. This immediately revokes their scheduling access and ensures a clean separation from operational systems.
Step 2 - Remove from all group chats and communication platforms
Remove the employee from all team communication channels, including WhatsApp groups and any other internal messaging platforms. This should be done prior to or at the same time as delivering the termination message.
Step 3 - Communicate the termination
Under 3 months of employment, a text message is acceptable.
Over 3 months of employment, an in-person conversation is strongly preferred. A phone call is acceptable as a last resort.
Message template — within probation (under 3 months):
Hi [EMPLOYEE NAME],
This is [YOUR NAME] from Stacked. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your time, dedication, and contributions during your time with us.
Unfortunately, I am reaching out to let you know that today will be your last day of employment with Stacked. As outlined in your offer, the first three months of employment serve as a mutual probation period, an opportunity for both the employer and the employee to assess whether the role is the right fit. After careful consideration, we have determined that this is not the right fit at this time.
Please know that this decision is not a reflection of your character or potential, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
