Search Engines

Search Engines help us navigate the growing and astounding amount of information on the internet.

Google is perhaps the most famous search engine, but it is not the only one. Click and investigate these four (there are more); you will notice the speed and ease of discovery as you are met with millions of search results. 

However, there are cons to be aware of when we use search engines:

• the incredible number of results leads to information overload. 

• Knowing what to trust is a challenge with so much available information. 

• Paid advertising on these search engines leads to information bias. 

• There are privacy concerns with search engines (and many websites) as our personal information and search histories are used without our permission.
