FOSS CHRISTMAS MARKET TRIUMPH
A fabulous festive highlight for our children (and us, if we are honest) is the fantastic FOSS Christmas Market in the Winchester Hall. Brimful of top quality presents, the shoppers filled their bags with loads of splendid Christmas booty to give to parents and family. We cannot thank FOSS enough for putting on this magnificent event for our children and to our generous parents who donated lashings and lashings of high quality merchandise for our shoppers to peruse. Here is a glimpse of the market and the FOSS elves who worked so hard to set it up. Stocks were soon diminished by our little shoppers who shopped 'til they dropped. More news on FOSS and the market on page three. Thank you so much to FOSS and all our parents for the support they give us, it makes such a huge difference to the resources and educational facilities we can offer our children.
Our whole school services at St Stephen's Church are always a treat and never more so than when our Year Two children give us their Christmas Nativity. An angel looking for his wings was the hero of this festive retelling of the birth of Jesus and in the course of his search he encountered kings, donkeys, shepherds, stars, angels and, last but not least, the holy family. This whole journey was a metaphor for expressing the importance of Jesus' birth to the world and also incorporated Christian values, such as kindness and love. As well as the stellar acting, the young thespians delighted us with some of our favourite Christmas songs. Thank you to the whole Year Two team for putting on this wonderful Nativity - Mrs Lesch, Miss Collins, Mrs Cryan, Mrs Warburton, Miss Abdurahaman and Miss Schoonenberg. Thank you - the rehearsals certainly paid off. The Nativity was a wonderful way to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
As well as the Year Two performers, we were thrilled to have Maestro Tim Wilford and the St Stephen's School orchestra on the stage to accompany our choir and whole school singing so beautifully. Carols and Christmas songs aplenty were performed with gusto by the whole school. Our school choir also took to the stage with our music teacher Jane Lindenberg, who has worked so hard with our children in our singing assemblies and at choir practice to produce some pitch perfect singing. Thank you.
Take a look at these magnificent hanging decorations. No, they are not from Santa's Workshop at the North Pole, but have been sewn by our Year Four elves in their Design and Technology lessons. First up, the young designers sketched a plan and looked at all the materials they would need to bring their two dimensional creations to life. Then, scissors at the ready, they cut out the template from the finest felt. Afterwards, they took up their needles to sew, with great neatness, the aforementioned designs. Hey presto, we give you their festive three dimensional creations. Ready to hang on a tree or mantle near you. Here you see them adorning the tree in our Reception area.
