Today, we celebrate National Teaching Assistants' Day and take the opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to our incredible team of TAs, who make such a remarkable difference in our school every single day.
Schools simply could not run without them. Through their boundless care, patience, and dedication, our TAs ensure that every child feels supported, encouraged, and empowered to flourish both academically and personally. Across England, almost 300,000 teaching assistants work in state-funded schools - and their contribution to education is truly invaluable.
To our wonderful Teaching Assistants at St Stephen’s: thank you for everything you do to support our children, staff, and school community!
Keep your children active and entertained during the upcoming Inset Day! Mr Cain and Mr Ryan will be running a full day of multi-sports activities packed with fun games, skill-building, and teamwork.

The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to St Stephen’s! Scholastic donates up to 40% of all sales back to our school in book vouchers, making this a brilliant way to stock our library and classroom collections.
We need 2 volunteers each afternoon (3:10 PM – 4:00 PM) to help run the stall in the play area.
What does volunteering involve?
Quick setup: Arrive 10 minutes early (3:10 PM) to help open up the bookcases.
Serving families: Assist parents and pupils with book choices and process payments using the provided card machines.
Tidy up: Help pack away by 4:00 PM.

Thank you for supporting our young readers!
This morning, we conducted our first fire drill of the school year.
We were extremely impressed by how well the children responded. Every year group demonstrated fantastic maturity - evacuating the building calmly, remaining silent, and assembling swiftly on the playground.
Knowing how to leave the premises safely and efficiently is a vital part of our school safety plan, and the children handled it with great responsibility. Well done, children!
Have you got half-used rolls of wallpaper cluttering up your shed, loft, or under-bed storage after a DIY project? Don't throw them away - our pupils would love to give them a second life!
We are looking for donations of any old or unwanted rolls of wallpaper (patterned, plain, textured - anything goes!).
If you have any spare rolls taking up space, please drop them off at the main school office.
Thank you so very much to our kind supporters who have brought stationery supplies so far or financially contributed towards our stationery supplies. We are incredibly grateful!
If you would like to donate towards school supplies, we have two options:
Please contribute to the Stationery Contribution Pot on Arbor under School Shop items
Alternatively, we have created an Amazon wishlist with items we need across the school. We will add items throughout the term.
We have an Early Years Wishlist for our youngest learners creative resources
We would welcome children to bring items into the school office to share with their class.
Please note the school will be closed for deliveries during holidays.
October is Black History Month, and the theme is "Honouring Our Communities."
To celebrate, we are inviting Black parents, grandparents, friends, carers, and local community members to come in and speak with our children. Sharing your story, career path, culture, or hobbies helps bring history and community to life for our young learners.
Interested in visiting for a short session or reading a book with a class? Please contact Jess Morrison to find out more. We'd love to have you!
