Key Stage 1 Sports Day Success at Moormead
A little grey weather certainly wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits on Wednesday! On a slightly overcast morning, our wonderful Year 1 and Year 2 children headed over to Moormead for their highly anticipated Key Stage 1 Sports Day.
The morning was a spectacular display of energy, teamwork, and community spirit. The children carouselled around a variety of different sporting events, working hard to collect points for their respective houses. It was a massive team effort, and the sheer enthusiasm, determination, and effort brought to every single station by all the children was absolutely lovely to see.
A huge thank to all the parents and extended families, who turned out in great numbers with wonderful support and cheers.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mr Cain for his fantastic work in organising such a smooth and successful morning. Finally, a huge well done to our Year 6 helpers; they showed immense maturity throughout the event, guiding the younger children and offering brilliant encouragement at every turn.
Thank you to everyone who made the morning so memorable—it was a wonderful celebration of our school community!

Yesterday, the children enjoyed a special morning workshop with award-winning picture book creators Lu Fraser and Sarah Warburton, the brilliant team behind Mavis the Bravest. They introduced the children to their new story, Room For Us All, and its star, Pamela the squirrel.
The session included storytelling, interactive games, a read-along and live drawing, all linked to the thoughtful theme that everything is better when no one is left out. It is always inspiring for children to meet authors and illustrators, and to see how stories and characters come to life.

On Thursday Year 4 enjoyed a brilliant trip to Twickenham Stadium to meet award winning author Maisie Chan. In time for diversity week, Maisie spoke about the importance of seeing characters that might look like us in literature. Coming from an adoptive family and being of Chinese heritage, Maisie's characters are often from diverse families and feature British Chinese main characters. We all left feeling inspired to get reading and maybe even writing too!
