RELEASE YOUR INNER ROCK STAR FOR RED NOSE DAY

To mark the awesome date that is 12th March 2021 (12-3-21, which reads the same forward as backwards) and to make maths exciting and high profile in our school, we are holding a Battle of the Bands (an in-school times tables competition) in aid of Red Nose Day for Years 2 – Year 6. It is part of a UK-wide Rock Down Relief event run by Times Tables Rock Stars and will be the biggest times tables event in the country, ever!

Starting on Friday 12th March and ending on Thursday 18th March 2021, the whole competition is done online via play.ttrockstars.com or the TT Rock Stars app. For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, your child will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours). Winning classes in the school will be the ones with the highest average.

All game modes (Gig, Garage, Jamming, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 9.30am and 3pm on Friday 12th to Thursday 18th inclusive.

To help raise money for Red Nose Day, we ask that children consider using their mufti day on Friday for Red Nose Day as an opportunity to add a rock star twist to their clothes choice. In addition, Help TT Rock Stars, to meet their goal of donating £5000 to Red Nose Day! All the children have to do is ‘purchase’ one of the virtual red noses for their TTRS avatar and they'll donate 5p to Red Nose Day. Remember folks...it's virtual TTRS coins (not real money) and you get a virtual red nose (not a real one)! Nonetheless, we know children have worked hard for those coins, which is why they will proudly make a donation on your behalf.

Red noses are available in the avatar shop for 1 month, starting on 12th March 2021, and will cost at least 50,000 coins. Get saving to get spending! More information is available at www.ttrockstars.com/page/rockdownreliefuk.

Spark! Book Awards Launch

This is a selection of carefully selected, high-quality books, which we invite children to read. Spark! will be promoting the shortlist on social media (Website, Twitter, Facebook) featuring each book and author over the next few weeks. It will be for the children across our Richmond and Kingston to read and enjoy the shortlisted books and then decide on their favourites and the winner of the Spark! Award in each category.

Voting Forms will be issued at the start of the Summer Term, with a deadline of 10th June.

However, FOSS has kindly funded 4 copies of each book, to create a Spark! library at school. If your child would like access to these books, please fill in the form below and we can arrange a book collection after half term.
