PENATHALON REPORT FROM MRS CRYAN

A group of excited children and staff from across Key Stage Two travelled to Twickenham School to take part in The Primary Penathalon. Our team of eight athletes honed their skills and took on new challenges as they competed in different activities, designed to test their agility, coordination and speed, alongside five other local schools. They displayed excellent team work and resilience, as well as having a whole lot of fun. At the end of a very energetic morning everyone was presented with a medal for their endeavours and good sportsmanship. All the children behaved wonderfully and we are very proud of them.

JUDO SQUAD GETS OLYMPIC TRAINING

St Stephen's pupils Kayden, Euan, Marko and George took part in Ippon Judo London's Purple Panthers' Squad Training session. The event was led by 2018 World Silver Medalist, 2014 Commonwealth Champion and 2016 Olympian, Nekoda Smythe Davis.

The boys gave an outstanding performance and should be very proud of themselves. From a group of over thirty students, Euan Martin was chosen as 'Player of the Day' by guest coach Nekoda for his determination and for demonstrating the core values of judo throughout the session. Well done team!

SAVE OUR BOOK SHED

Please read this report from our Year Six Book Shed Committee - they need your help ...

As our school is very fond of reading, it is important that everyone has easy access to books during break and lunch times. The problem is that our Reading Shed needs some work. It isn't as colourful and inviting as it should be, in fact it isn't colourful at all. Not only that, it has mould and cobwebs.

We are asking for donations of between £1 and £5 to help end our shed's suffering. We will be holding out our bucket for contributions on Friday 9th December. We will be there in the morning at 8.50am and after school at 3.30pm.

Although our shed isn't in great condition at the moment a lot of good things have come out of it. When children use the Reading Shed it helps them develop their reading skills, aiding them in English lessons, as well as other subjects. Most importantly, they enjoy it and it helps them relax.

In conclusion, our vision for the Reading Shed is that it will be painted white. On the outside, we hope to cover it with some inspiring messages. It will be warm and inviting and everyone will be made welcome.

Thank you so much
