This week, along with thirty six other local schools, we attended the annual borough Tag Rugby tournament at Richmond Rugby Club. We moved through the first group stage, remaining unbeaten and really got into our groove as the matches progressed, with a particularly pleasing 4-0 win over Barnes in the third game of four. This meant we qualified for the cup by playing some fantastic rugby. However, we lost our final group game, so didn't quite make it to the semis, finishing a great fifth overall. There was some wonderful rugby from all our players. Isla's fantastic defensive work meant she was voted 'player of the day' due to her heroic efforts. But also special mentions to Freddie, Oli, Seb, Ali, Sassy, Alana, Alex and Eli who all contributed to our overall performance. We now move to our league matches which start after half term. After today's great performance, we are really looking forward to them.
Our Year One mathematicians have been working to show that even though you have the same number of cubes as your partner, you can configure them into a completely different shape. Visualising how a number can be represented proved great fun.
In RE our Year Six children are studying Christianity this half term, with a focus on birth, marriage and death. The children started off by looking at what could happen during their own life journeys, highlighting particular milestones. Although many of these are the same for us all, such as learning to walk and starting school, they also considered events they are looking forward to in their futures. These ranged from passing their driving tests, living independently and owning a pet and so many more. We are finishing up the unit with a focus on the Christian view of death. After considering this they thought about their own views of what may happen after death and then drew some marvellous illustrations of what they think heaven looks like or their own alternative.
JOSIAH RECOMMENDS ..
There is nothing better than a great book recommendation. Year Four's Josiah highly recommends this tome on Alexander the Great. So, if reading about one of the most acclaimed military leaders of all time is something you might be interested in, give it a go. Did you Alexander was tutored by the great Aristotle?
