We are really sorry to say goodbye to two members of staff this half term, lovely George Abbott and wonderful Sarah Khaleel, who have been much loved and star performers in our Year Three and Reception teams. George's quiet and wonderfully kindly way has made him so popular with our Year Three children, while Sarah's fantastic skills with our younger, Reception children means she is a key member of our Early Years team. George is moving to Liverpool to work in a special needs school, with a view to start teaching training in 2025. While, after two years at St Stephen's, Sarah is looking to make a career change, although we are thrilled that she will be continuing to work at our Stars wraparound care club for a while. Thank you Mr Abbott and Miss K for your wonderful and lasting contribution to St Stephen's. We have all loved working with you and our staff and children will miss you. Lots of luck for the future.
Huge congratulations to Sophie and Kayden for representing St Stephen's at the Richmond Schools Pupil Parliament. They did us proud and thank you to Miss Cooper for accompanying our St Stephen's MPs. Next stop Westminster?
When our Year One children returned from their trip to Bockett's Farm they were literally brimming with enthusiasm. They loved their day down on the farm. It was hard for them to pinpoint their favourite memory but the coach ride, tractor trip, animal petting and viewing and the workshop on how the farmers look after their animal stock were all commented on with enthusiasm. However, judging by the squeals of delight when describing it, we have a very sneaky suspicion that the highlight of the day was the legendary PIG RACE - see left for the porcine racers in action. Turn to page four for more farm-based shots ...
Report by Mrs Chahil
In Science, we have been learning about soil. We know soil is not just not just dirt but contains four layers or horizons. The layers include humus, top layer, weathered rock and solid rock. Here we are looking at the two top layers and we found lots of living and dead animals, rocks, dead plants and seeds.
