FOSS UPDATE - PAGE THREE.
THIS WEEK FOSS ORGANISED ANOTHER AMAZING GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF. THE STANDARD OF THE BAKING AND DECORATING WAS PHENOMENAL. PLEASE TURN TO PAGE THREE FOR SOME PHOTOS OF THIS FABULOUS DAY. WE WILL BRING YOU MORE PICTURES NEXT WEEK.
This week we were delighted to welcome Mike Pope from the Dwarf Sports Association who led a brilliant assembly on dwarfism and sport. A competing athlete himself, with around 150 medals in his trophy cabinet, Mike explained to us that people with dwarfism can compete in all sports. "Formed in 1993, the association aims to ensure people with dwarfism can compete in sport on an equal level. This helps with self esteem and a sense of achievement. Dwarf athletes from two to seventy regularly compete in its events and it hosts the National Dwarf games. Although our athletes win lots of medals we are also keen to ensure that we encourage everyone with dwarfism activities to take part in sport," said Mr Pope. The assembly was a wonderful end to our dwarfism awareness day, where all our children and staff were encouraged to wear sporting kit which reflected their own interests. A highlight of the day was when Mia joined Mike to show us her cache of medals. A keen athlete herself, she regularly trains with the Dwarf Sports Association and competes in swimming and running. A week where we nurtured and cherished ourselves and thought of all the wonderful attributes each and every one of us has. Thank you so much to our wonderful PHSE Co-ordinator, Nicola Collins, who organised a week of actvities around the theme 'Know yourself, grow yourself.' Talks from Charlie, our school nurse and a visit from Miss Rose's giant rabbit were also featured. More pictures next week.
