After eight years at St Stephen's, working across several year groups and being a member of our sports coaching team, Joey Dale is moving on to follow his dreams and join the Fire Service. He's always been a hero to us but now he becomes a real life hero to so many more.
Mr Dale told us: "I've loved working at St Stephen's. The children make me laugh every day. I've met some great people and made some friends I will keep for life. I've constantly been built up in love and learning throughout my journey.
"Going to sports tournaments with the children has been a highlight. After doing a lemon squeezer abdominal strengthener move in PE, it will now always be one of my favourite things to do. I'll miss going to Mrs Cox's house for DT cooking. She always sorted me out with some food for myself as well.
"I have spent nearly half my life at St Stephen's, both as a student and as a Teaching Assistant. The job has helped prepare me for my next adventure. It's a time I'll cherish and I'll never forget." Good luck Mr Dale we will all miss you so much and thank you.
Polite notice – Please remember to pack your child’s snacks for after school clubs into their school bag before school. They should not be dropped at school during the day, as this disrupts your child’s and their class’s learning time.Thank you for your co-operation.
We are very aware of the necessary, but high volume of communications we send out to parents. However, we want to streamline this process and make it more efficient for all recipients.
After half term, and moving forward, we will be trialling a new procedure whereby communications will only be sent out on Fridays.
You will receive an email with letters attached. The number of letters will depend on the activities planned for your child at that time and will vary week on week.
You will receive both whole school and year group/class specific communications, as necessary. The exception to the rule may be urgent or personal messages for example any follow-up regarding trip permissions, payments and packed lunches which cannot wait for the usual Friday communications.
Please could you ensure children are not pushing each other and running into the playground when the Winchester Gate opens in the morning. This is a safety risk and we want to avoid any injuries. We will also be speaking to the pupils about how they should enter the school grounds. Many thanks for your support.
Our Sports Coach, Mr Cain, has some vacancies in the following clubs: Hockey Year 4-6 (Monday 3.30-4.30pm) Tennis Year 4-6 (Thursday 7.45am-8.45am). if your child is interested in attending a trial for these clubs please get in touch with info@st-stephens.richmond.sch.uk. Following the trial, the fee for the remainder of the term is £54.00
As the Summer approaches, and the temperatures will hopefully rise, it will not be compulsory for children to wear ties for the final half term of the year. Thank you.
This week, our lovely school choir took part in a singing festival at the Rose Theatre. Thank you so much to Mrs Gawn and Miss Kenyon-Muir for accompanying the singers. Here Mrs Gawn's report ...
The school choir took part in the annual Richmond Music Trust singing festival this week.
This event is a wonderful opportunity for choirs across the borough to come together and sing with a live band at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.
Our St Stephen's choir has been practising every Thursday after school since February, and every single child has made a huge contribution. Well done for almost one hundred per cent attendance from you all!
We had to learn some quite complex harmonies and the words (off by heart) of six songs. We were centre stage and under the spotlight for two songs which we rehearsed with St Mary's Junior and Middle Schools - we loved 'Walking on Sunshine,' but I think we are all agreed that our performance of 'Mr Blue Sky' almost blew the roof off the theatre! Well done to all the children for turning up every week and making such a huge effort at the concert. Thank you to all the parents for their tremendous support and I think, from hearing all the cheers in the audience, they all enjoyed it as much as we did!
