On Thursday 6th February, Charlie, our school nurse came into talk to us about our mental health and wellbeing. The children were fluent in naming emotions such as happiness, sadness, frustration, anxiety and excitement. Charlie went on to talk about what we can do to be helpful to look after our minds or when we feel sad, frustrated, worried or cross. She discussed the five ways to wellbeing and how we can stay mentally healthy. These included: exercise, doing relaxing breathing exercises, eating healthy foods, drinking water, taking the time to be in nature and doing mindful activities, such as five finger breathing. The children learned about how friendship and having people to talk to can help us to relieve worried feelings. Good friendships can help us feel connected to each other and it can help prevent loneliness. The children were fluent in explaining that if they are feeling lonely, worried, sad or scared that they would talk to a trusted adult.
Here we give you Year Four's Rashford class learning how to chop safely, using the 'claw' grip. We love to teach our children valuable life skills in Design and Technology.
In art our Year Six children have been looking at the work of the British and Iraqi architect ,the late Zaha Hadid. She was famed for her curvy and abstract buildings, preferring to use hand drawn designs and not be completely reliant on computer generated images. Here we give you Year Six's response to her design principles, refreshingly non-conformist and inspiring.
