AP World History

Welcome to the exciting journey of Advanced Placement World History! We are thrilled to embark on this intellectual adventure with you as we explore the rich tapestry of human civilization from ancient times to the present day.  This summer assignment is designed to lay the foundation for our exploration of world history and set you up for success when classes begin. It will introduce you to key concepts and themes and foster critical thinking skills essential for success in the AP course and beyond.

Course Overview

AP World History: Modern is an introductory college-level modern world history course. Students cultivate their understanding of world history from c. 1200 CE to the present through analyzing historical sources and learning to make connections and craft historical arguments as they explore concepts like humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions and organization, and technology and innovation. 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for AP World History: Modern. Students should be able to read a college-level textbook and write grammatically correct, complete sentences.

Grading  |  Your AP World History teacher will review your progress on the Summer Assignment. They will ensure that you have completed all parts of the assignment. It's important to remember that if you don't finish the work, you won't receive credit for it. The completion of this summer assignment is essential for your success in this course. It will also count as a summative assessment grade for the first quarter of the school year.  Due dates can be found here.
