Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! My name is Mrs. Zana and I am excited to be your teacher! Let me share a little bit about myself. Mr. Zana and I have 2 kids, Tino and Riley. Both of my kids are done with college and beginning their professional careers. Mr. Zana is both a nurse and a teacher. Our 2 dogs, Jethro and Mia keep us busy and love to play. I enjoy sports, especially coaching fastpitch softball. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons and I really like snow. Coffee is my favorite drink and cookies are my favorite food. This year is sure to keep us on our toes but I love a good challenge so off we go!
Kindergarteners have done a great job learning new school routines. I have been providing them with a morning snack daily but will phase this out in November as they have learned to a good breakfast and the importance of eating their lunch. On Fun Fridays we usually do microwave popcorn as a treat and that will likely continue throughout the year.
From an academic side we are fully immersed in learning our curriculum and moving ahead with steam. As we learn new letter sounds, including correct letter formation, we also are learning how sounds blend to form words. We call these CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. Some examples would include: cat, mop, jet, fit, mug. As of today we have learned the following letters: t, b, l, c, o, u, f, a, m. In math we have learned formation for 0-5 and are beginning 6-10.
We work on dry erase boards and our classroom Clevertouch board quite a bit so our work is not always visible in the worksheets students bring home. I do send home the extra workbook sheets as practice for home. I do not need these sent back they are to be used at your discretion. Conference information will be sent out soon and I look forward to discussing your child's progress with you!
