The toddler who gingerly walked into the drawing school once is now a confident young lady with panache. Though oil painting is her passion, she can play with acrylic, pencil, oil pastels, pen and fluid art with ease. To create something new everyday is her driving force. The flamboyance of colour and the carefree and self spirited elegance are her natural styles.
Medium: Oil painting, oil pastels, acrylic painting, fluid art, charcoal
Oil painting is something that is very close to my heart and the painting of the Goddess I have made is even closer to my heart because of the ancestral Pujo I have in my house. When I finished the painting, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It took me 3 months to make that and I was so happy with what I had done. Last year, I was feeling really done because of the pandemic. Finally to get me out of my misery, my mother encouraged me to paint. And so I finally painted that painting of a wave. I call it “Ariel.” Although it did not turn out the way I wanted it to, that painting has helped me get through some difficult times and made me believe in myself and my craft.
Acrylic has never been my favourite medium to work with. I find it extremely difficult because the colours simply won’t blend as well as it blends in oil painting. But since I started my small business I had to paint a lot with this medium. And now I can say that since The medium challenged me a lot, I grew as an artist.
The fluid art I made of the wave took so much strength out of me because I made that by blowing on the scattered colours with a straw. But in the end, the results were so worth it.
I had made the oil pastel years ago and I still remember wanting to dive into the painting and live in a world like that.
The charcoal is again very close to my heart as that’s the only work I have done on charcoal till date. It was fun and a learning experience for me obviously. But the best part about it is that it has motion in it. As it is difficult to create motion in fine arts and a sit was a very new concept for me back then, I was very happy that I could do it!
