Everything About SSFUSD AVID
AVID is a national organization with a mission to close the achievement gap by preparing students for college and career readiness using a cohort-based model and a 4-year elective class.
We value the AVID College and Career Readiness System in South San Francisco Unified School District because we believe AVID strategies are effective in ensuring that students have support for and access to challenging curriculum in order to prepare them for college and for careers.
The AVID Elective is a class taken all four years of high school that helps students prepare for the rigors of college. Students apply for and interview to be a part of the AVID Elective. The AVID Elective class is designed for students who have the desire to pursue their post secondary education who may not otherwise have easy access to support in preparing for and applying to college. In the first two years of AVID, students learn study skills to be successful in an academically rigorous setting while beginning to explore possible college and career interests. In the final two years of AVID, students put those skills to use taking advanced classes, finalizing their after high school plans, and applying to scholarships, financial aid, and colleges.
Our AVID Recruitment Team has created an informational video which is being shared with all SSFUSD Middle Schools. All interested 8th and 9th graders should submit an AVID Application. Students who fit the AVID selection criteria will then be contacted for an interview.
Application Deadline: To Be Announced
Applications submitted after the deadline may be considered on a case by case basis.
