The Concurrent Enrollment Program is an enrichment program designed to provide current high school students, who are enrolled in the 9th grade or above, the opportunity to get an early start on their college education. Students will receive college credit for all coursework successfully completed while still in high school, and in some courses, can earn both high school and college credits. Eligible high school students can register for up to 11 units for free!
Want to earn high school AND college credit? If you have 2.0 GPA then you can take concurrent enrollment classes at Skyline or another local community college. Not sure what to take?

Concurrent Enrollment steps for the San Mateo County Community College District (Skyline College, College of San Mateo, and Cañada College)
STEP 1: Look at the Course Catalog
SMCCCD uses a shared course catalog across Skyline, CSM, and Cañada.
You should check the catalog for the correct semester and meet with your high school counselor for course approval.
STEP 2: Apply to Skyline, CSM, or Cañada
You must create an OpenCCC account and then complete the application.
After applying, you’ll receive a G# student ID via email.
STEP 3: Submit College Connection Form
This is done through your mySMCCD Student Portal under the Student Success Link → My Forms.
You’ll need:
Course CRN
Parent/guardian email
High school counselor email
These contacts will receive emails to approve your enrollment.
STEP 4: Complete Assessment Form
You must complete the High School English/Math Placement Request Form if your course requires placement.
Some courses (especially English and Math) may require placement tests or prerequisite verification.
STEP 5: Register for Classes
Once approvals are received, you’ll get an email with registration instructions.
You can also check your WebSMART account for your registration date.
Use the 5-digit CRN to register for classes.
STEP 6: Send Transcript
After completing the course, request an official transcript via WebSMART.
Send it to your high school registrar (e.g., Ms. Rodriguez) and notify your counselor of your final grade.
Students can take up to 11.5 units for free under concurrent enrollment.
You cannot participate in concurrent enrollment during the summer after graduation—you’ll need to apply as a regular college student.
