Established at the beginning of the 2023 school year, under the name Colts Press, Newspaper Club is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and informed community through responsible journalism. We aim to deliver timely, diverse, and accurate news coverage of El Camino High School while raising the talents of our members. We empower readers with knowledge of the school to encourage participation in school activities, events, and more. We also aim to promote critical thinking and a deeper understanding of journalism skills. 

PurPose

The Newspaper Club was created to build a platform for student voices to be heard, distribute and share information, and for higher engagement in school activities and events. Through responsible journalism and news reporting, aiming to efficiently inform students, teachers, peers, and general staff about school events, activities, and achievements. By fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, we will inspire to inform and connect the student body to create a positive impact in our school's community.

Newspaper Club is committed to upholding the principles of responsible journalism and maintaining a high standard of credibility. Our dedicated team engages in thorough research, fact-checking, and verification processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of every piece of information we present. We adhere to ethical reporting practices, respecting the rights and privacy of individuals while providing a comprehensive and unbiased perspective on news and events within our school community. Through continuous professional development and adherence to journalistic standards, we strive to deliver content that not only informs but also fosters trust and confidence among our readers. 

Availability

Colts Press is open to all sorts of collaborations and promotional support. We are available Monday through Sunday during scheduled times. You can schedule a time through the email dlam6044@ssfusd.org. Colts Press is closed and non-operational during the holidays. Inquiries are still welcome.

By joining our team, you will get the chance to take on the role of an editor, making at least one article per biweekly newspaper. Being on this editorial team is mainly a self-guided journey and that also means taking on new responsibilities. With this work-based extracurricular, we are lenient and understanding when our fellow editors need support!
