See Session 3 Presented by Miriam Gerwirtz M.A., O.T., R/L
This book study is co-hosted by the Special School District Directors serving the partner districts of Clayton and Ladue. Together, we are excited to bring parents, educators, and community members into a shared learning experience around Smart but Scattered: The Revolutionary Executive Skills Approach to Helping Kids Reach Their Potential (Second Edition) by Peg Dawson, Richard Guare, and Colin Guare.
Both Clayton and Ladue have a significant number of students identified with ADHD and other learning differences that are closely tied to executive functioning skills such as working memory, organization, and planning. Because these skills are essential for academic and life success—and because teachers in both districts are currently training with Dr. Dawson on executive skills—we saw an opportunity to extend this learning beyond the classroom.
Over four sessions, participants will explore how executive functioning develops, how deficits can affect students, and how families and schools can partner to strengthen these skills. Each session will feature special guest facilitators from both districts, offering expert insight and practical strategies for supporting students both at home and during the school day.
All meetings will take place from 6-7 pm.
