David A. S. Kaufman, Ph.D., ABPP, is a clinical neuropsychologist and the director of Gateway Neuropsychology, LLC. He is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology. In addition to working with clients at Gateway Neuropsychology, he is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Saint Louis University, where he is active in research, teaching, and clinical training of doctoral students.
Dr. Kaufman received his training in neuropsychology from two of the most established and respected training programs in the nation, earning his Ph.D. from the University of Florida and completing his internship and a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology from the UCLA Semel Institute.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Kaufman joined Teach For America and taught high school for five years. He continues to have a passion for teaching and working with students to maximize their potential.
Keely Stephens is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and seasoned Instructional Coordinator with the Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County. In her current role, she provides guidance and support to multiple school-age programs across the district, including Clayton, Brentwood, Kirkwood, Ritenour, Maplewood–Richmond Heights, and Webster Groves.
Keely brings deep expertise in applied behavior analysis paired with a commitment to improving educational outcomes for students across a wide spectrum of needs. Her leadership, practical strategies, and dedication to district-wide behavioral support make her a valued leader and partner in supporting executive functioning development in students.
Miriam Gewirtz is a dedicated school-based occupational therapist currently serving students in the Ladue School District. With a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy and certification as a Registered/Licensed Occupational Therapist, she specializes in supporting students’ executive functioning through sensory-informed practices, classroom accommodations, and individualized skill-building.
Miriam brings compassion, creativity, and deep expertise to her work in helping young learners strengthen their organization, planning, and self-regulation — skills that are essential for academic success and everyday life. She has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to student learning with the Excellence in Education Award, reflecting her commitment to inclusion and innovation. Miriam is trusted and respected by colleagues, families, and students alike for her ability to make meaningful, results-driven impact in the school setting.
Tricia Spener is a versatile healthcare leader and licensed occupational therapist with more than 20 years of experience in neonatal and pediatric rehabilitation, higher education, health consulting, and corporate leadership. As both a clinician and the parent of a child in the School District of Clayton, Tricia blends professional expertise with personal passion to advocate for equitable access to supportive services and wellness programs. She is also an active member of the Parent Advisory Council for Special Education (PACeD), where she is deeply engaged in promoting inclusion and ensuring that all students have opportunities to thrive.
