student services

School Nurses:

Nurses are still responsible for completion of mandated services. Including follow up of failed vision, hearing, and scoliosis. Monitoring the completion of immunization plans, physical examinations and dental examinations. The annual SHARRS report must be completed by individual nurses. Incomplete mandated services decreases reimbursement. All work can be completed by accessing ESchool, contacting parents via email provided to school at registration and the One Call system if necessary.

Guidance Counselors:

The Guidance department operates wholistically, with each counselor playing an integral role in the success of our school counseling program. The tasks completed in the final 2 months of the school year are imperative for students’ success and impact the whole school. From home counselors will continue to monitor graduating seniors progress by staying in touch with them, their teachers, and parents. Counselors will also continue to work on students’ schedules for next school year. Counselors are planning to continue to offer virtual sessions for students to speak with professionals in various careers, post topics/resources regularly for students related to academic, career, personal and social components of their lives. Counselors will provide parents with resources on how to navigate personal/social challenges that their student might be faced with during trying times. Counselors are going to use the google platform to continue to hold our psychoeducational groups and presentations. Counselors are committed to continue to offer students the rich, supportive resources they pride their department in providing. Counselors know the vital role we play in ensuring our students enter the world as well-rounded, community-minded, positive and contributing members of society and are committed fully to continuing to deliver our program virtually.

Community School Based Behavioral Health (CSBBH):

CSBBH through Scranton Counseling Center is currently working from home; however, all teams have daily telehealth (telephone or third-party) contact with the children and families on their caseloads. CSBBH continues to provide the mandated 24/7 365 day/year crisis support to children and families. CSBBH staff have designated weekly supervision and Core meetings with their supervisors and psychological consultants. Children are continuing to receive their medication, if prescribed, from SCC staff psychiatrists. SCC continues to provide their 24/7 crisis service to all residents of Lackawanna county and they can contact crisis 24/7 by calling (570)348-6100.
