Technical Sergeant Aubrey M. Vasquez grew up in Yonkers, NY where he enlisted in the Air Force under the Delayed Entry Program in June 1998 in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Saunders Technical High School, Sergeant Vasquez was called to active duty in October 1998. As Security Forces, he held positions from the squadron level to direct reporting unit (DRU) working in a variety of positions.
Early in his career, Sergeant Vasquez was selected to become a Phoenix Raven where he deployed to multiple austere locations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, as a Raven, Sergeant Vasquez worked closely with many other government agencies to include the Secret Service to ensure protection of high-level dignitaries in multiple areas of the world. His exceptional knowledge and skills led to his selection of representing his unit in both the 2001 and 2004 Defender Challenge.
Proving his value to the Air Force Security Forces career field and the Phoenix Raven program, Sergeant Vasquez was selected to develop and implement training programs for the Raven course in the 421st Combat Training Phoenix Raven course, Sergeant Vasquez was instructing many other courses providing combat skills training to thousands of Airmen tasked to support multiple operations around the world. His leadership during his tenure at the 421st CTS lead to then Staff Sergeant Vasquez’s selection for a Stripes for Exceptional Performers (STEP) promotion to Technical Sergeant.
Ready for increased responsibility, TSgt. Vasquez was selected to represent the Security Forces career field in the 423 MTS, formerly known as the 422nd Joint Tactics Squadron, where he was charged with developing TTP for expeditionary combat support Airmen. With his exceptional level of knowledge and skills in force protection, it was only natural that TSgt. Vasquez was selected to lead the unit’s first visit to Afghanistan to collect LL from the Airmen on the ground to develop TTP and provide life saving information for the next Airmen to use before deploying downrange. This set the tone for the flight to develop nine published TTP and five additional publications in development. TSgt. Vasquez was instrumental in the flight and winning multiple team of the month, team of the quarter, Air Mobility Command level and Air Force level awards.
