PHS ATF Location & Hours
PHS' athletic training facility is located in the old PE classroom, behind the weight room. Daniel is available Monday-Friday after school on non-game days for injury evaluation, rehabilitation and treatment. If not in the athletic training facility, look for a note on where he is located. The athletic training facility will be closed during home games. Hours are subject to change based on scheduled events.
Athletic training services are provide for the following home events:
JV and Varsity football games
also travels to away games for these teams
F/JV/Varsity girls volleyball games
F/JV/Varsity girls and boys basketball games
JV/Varsity girls and boys soccer games
JV/Varsity wrestling duals
JV/Varsity softball
JV/Varsity baseball
Track and field meets
What are Athletic Trainers?
Must obtain, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from an accredited university or college and complete appropriate clinical training (this requirement will change to a Master’s degree soon).
Must pass a comprehensive exam to earn the athletic trainer (ATC) credential
Must keep their knowledge and skills current by participating in continuing education
Must adhere to standards of professional practice set by one national certifying agency and to a national code of ethics
Athletic trainers work in a variety of settings, including schools, colleges, professional sports, clinics, hospitals, corporations, industry, performing arts venues, municipalities (e.g. fire and police departments) and the military.
Meet Your Athletic Trainer
Daniel LaTourelle, MS, ATC
Daniel has been a certified athletic trainer since 2019 and has experience in the collegiate, high school, and hospital settings. A native of Santa Rosa and a Piner Alumni (2015), Daniel received his bachelors degree in athletic training from San Diego State University and masters degree in applied exercise science from Concordia University Chicago. Daniel has spent time at Stephen F. Austin State University with the track and field program, Justin-Siena High School, and most recently with UCSF Health as part of the PlaySafe Program.
In his spare time, he likes to stay active, watch sports, and spend time with his family and friends.
