Weekly Newsletter Grade 1 Mrs. Campbell
Dear Parents,
What an exciting week this is going to be. We have our Saint Day Program on Thursday at 1:15, and then we have the Dance-a-thon on Friday. What a wonderful week to be in First Grade. We will start the next chapters in Religion and ELA tomorrow, and continue addition in Math. One day this week the children will meet with their 8th Grade Prayer Partners. During the year, we will get together and do some different activities with them. We will start practicing in Church, Monday, for the Saint Day Program. We have been singing and going over the poems and prayers for the program for most of October. I think everyone will be excited to get a chance to talk into the microphone tomorrow. My class will be sitting on the St. Pius side of Church. The Saint Program will be on Live Stream. This is great for relatives who are unable to attend. A link will be sent to you closer to Thursday.
Plan for the Week
Religion – Chapter 7. We pray to God Our Father. We will also be talking about our Saints.
Math – continue addition and prepare for the chapter test.
ELA – - Unit 1 Week 5 Essential Question: How does your body move? Stories: “Move!”, “The Monkey’s Fiddle”, “Move and Grin” High Frequency Words: jump, move, run, two. Comprehension: Ask and answer questions, topic and relevant details, bold print. Grammar: Sentences- Punctuation (period, question mark, and exclamation point), capitalization, and space between words. We have started small groups for reading. I am using the leveled readers. The children are excited to come and read.
Fundations: We will review Unit 3 and do the test, and begin Unit 4 - bonus letters (ss, ll, ff)
Words: miss, fill, puff, kiss, mess, hill, stiff
We will be doing a lot of practicing for the Saint Program.
Reminders:
~ Please remember that your child needs a costume to wear for the Saint Day Program. Please put it in a bag and send it to school on Thursday. My suggestion is for your child to wear their Gym uniform. If the regular uniform works better with your costume, that is fine too.
~ Our Saint Day Program is this Thursday. We will be processing into church at 1:15 pm. Please go right to the church. We will be sitting on the St. Pius X side. As you walk up the center aisle, the children will sit on the right side. The first five pews are for the children.
~Friday, October 31st is the Dance-a-thon.
~Please keep practicing the Saint Day Sentences. Thank you for all you do!
~Ireland was beautiful. I had a wonderful trip. Thank you for your help and understanding last week.
