First Grade Newsletter for October 26-30, 2026

Dear Parents,

     What an exciting week this will be. We have our Saint Day Program on Thursday at 1:15, followed by the Dance-a-thon on Friday.  What a wonderful week to be in First Grade.  We will start the next chapters in Religion and ELA tomorrow, and continue addition in Math.  We started practicing for the Saint Day Program at church on Friday. Monday, we will practice the sentences on the microphone.  We have been singing and going over the poems and prayers for the program for most of October. I think everyone will be excited to get a chance to talk into the microphone tomorrow. My class will be sitting on the St. Pius side of the church. 

Plan for the Week

Religion – Chapter 5: God shares His life with us. Through Baptism, we become children of God and Christians.

Math – continue addition 

ELA –  - Unit 1 Week 3 Essential Question:  What makes a pet special? High Frequency Words: be, come, good, pull. Stories: “Cool Dogs, School Dog”, “Our Pets”, “A Pig for Cliff” and “Flip” 

Fundations: We will begin Unit 3

We will be doing a lot of practicing for the Saint Program.

Reminders:

~ Please remember that your child needs a costume to wear for the Saint Day Program. Please put it in a bag and send it to school on Thursday.  I suggest your child wear their Gym uniform. If the regular uniform works better with your costume, that's fine too.  Please help your child practice putting on the costume.   

~ Our Saint Day Program is this Thursday.  We will be processing into church at 1:15 pm. Please go right to the church. We will be sitting on the St. Pius X side. As you walk up the center aisle,  the children will sit on the right side.  The first five pews are for the children.

~Friday, October 30th is the Dance-a-thon.

~Please keep practicing the Saint Day Sentences. Thank you for all you do!

~ Looking for Baptism pictures for a special Baptism activity.  Some families sent pictures in.  Thank you.  We will do this activity next Monday. You have plenty of time to find a picture.
