Weekly Newsletter Grade 1 Mrs. Campbell
Dear Parents,
We had a wonderful start last week. The children and I worked on some classroom management and organizational tasks. This week we begin a regular schedule. Most of the specials will begin this week. We will eat our snack in the cafeteria. Homework will begin next week. I would like to explain homework at the Parent meeting. Please make sure your child has completed the “All About Me” paper I sent home in the green folder last week. Remember, the green folder should come back to school every day. The Wonders Reading Series begins this week with a 3-week review called Start Smart. The Fundations Program begins with an orientation week. We will review letter recognition, sounds, and letter formation.

Monday - Library Tuesday- Computer and Art Wednesday - Gym (Gym Uniform) Friday - Music
Plan for the week-
Religion – Chapter 1- Jesus is our friend. We will listen to the story of Jesus and the little children, pray The Sign of the Cross, and talk about the cross, which is a visible reminder of Jesus’ love.
Math – Chapter 1 Lessons 1-4 - numbers 0-10, number words, ten frames, and number order.
Begin Simple Solutions.
ELA – Essential Question – Who Am I? Genre focus – Nursery rhymes, ask and answer questions, discuss characters. Review the words: a, can, do, go, has, he, I, like, to, and you. Handwriting and phonics will be part of the Fundations program.
Social Studies- we will discuss the jobs we will do at school this year, introduce the map and the 50 states. We live in Pennsylvania.
Share state information and places we have visited.
Science - The Simple Solutions Science book is new this year. This week we will learn about our 5 senses.
Reminders:
Please send all money to school in an envelope. Please write your child’s name and what is in the envelope on the front.
Please make sure your child knows how they are going home every day!
Don’t forget your child needs to wear their Gym Uniform on Wednesdays this year.
