About the Teacher

Welcome!

I would like to introduce you and your child to the Sixth Grade.  My name is Mrs. Kate Reinhardt. I am a graduate of West Chester University with a Dual Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I am a certified K-6 Elementary Education Teacher. In addition, I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through Immaculata University and am enrolled in the Archdiocesan Elementary Administrators Development Program.  This is my 18th year teaching at St. Pius X School and my eighth year teaching in the Sixth Grade.   I am beyond excited to continue this adventure with you and your child!  Looking ahead, we have so many wonderful learning opportunities, both spiritually and academically, planned for this year.

I want to start the school year off on a good note.  The class will be reviewing our standards of conduct during the first week of school.  I will explain my expectations regarding both behavior and academics. I will teach Religion and Reading to my homeroom students. I will also teach Science and Math to both my homeroom, and Mrs. Falcone's homeroom.  Mrs. Falcone will teach English and Social Studies, and Mrs. Burns will teach the Honors Math program.

Sixth grade marks the beginning of Novel Study. Novel Study replaces a textbook reading series. We will cover four novels throughout the year.  A novel study packet complements each novel. At this age, children have acquired the skills and strategies necessary to read. Our novel studies will enhance these skills with a strong focus on key story elements, figurative language, and vocabulary.  The Sixth Grade has been using Novel Study for 9 years, and it has proven to be very beneficial to the children and an overall great success.

I have high hopes for each student.  I believe that each child can succeed if they have someone who has faith in them.  If we work together, your child can reach his/her fullest potential. There are many ways that I can be reached for any questions and/or concerns about the education of your child. Feel free to call the school office to talk or schedule a phone/virtual conference.  For a quick response, please email me: kreinhardt@spxbroomal.org.

If your child has a peanut allergy, please let me know.  Depending on it's severity and your preference, we may institute a peanut free classroom.  This includes foods that “may contain peanuts” or “manufactured in a plant with other nuts.”

I look forward to discussing more about the Sixth Grade at our Back to School Night.
