🌷 May in 5th Grade 🌼
ELA- We will finish up Unit 6 in Wonders for our spelling and grammar skills. Next, we will review all of the grammar topics we've learned throughout the year. In reading we will be focusing on our novel study for Fish in a Tree. We will use vocabulary study, comprehension questions, class discussions, and written responses using the RACE method as we explore this story. We will also finish up the final 4 units of the Vocabulary Workshop curriculum.
Math- This month the at level math class will continue our work with geometry and measurement concepts. We will explore standard and metric units of measure. Finally, we will practice all math concepts covered this year with daily review and Simple Solutions. *Honors math class- please refer to communication/Google classroom from Mrs. Burns.
Religion- We will finish Unit 5 focusing on the 10 Commandments and how we can live by the 10 commandments in our daily life. Then we will focus on the lives of our Blessed Mother and the saints, and how they are a model for us to look to as we live our lives.
Science- We will learn about Earth's forces (focusing on gravity and friction), and the sun/moon/stars. We will wrap up our year with the Super Scientist project- a chance for students to work with a group to create their own science experiment using the steps of the Scientific Method.
Social Studies- Students will work through Chapter 6.
