Humanities is both your Social Studies and English class. It is a course that includes the study of “art, literature, and music, as well as cultural studies involving history, philosophy, religion, and politics”. In this humanities class we will begin the year learning about different types of governments around the world with a focus on the United States government, human rights and the presidential election. We will read persuasive texts and autobiographies, develop our own narratives and write argumentative essays. Throughout the year, we will examine human rights around the world in the past and present and how individuals and groups have shaped the human experience.
